Felt Overlay Roofing Project at The Haven in Lancing

The problem & Solution

This roofing project at The Haven in Lancing involved installing a new felt overlay system to an existing roof on a block of flats. The aim was to improve weather protection, extend the life of the roof, and provide a reliable new surface without the need for a full strip-off.

A felt overlay can be an effective solution where the existing roof structure is suitable to receive a new covering. It allows the roof to be upgraded with less disruption while still improving waterproofing and overall performance. For residential buildings such as blocks of flats, this can be a practical and cost-effective way to carry out essential roofing works.

As part of the system, a vapour control layer was installed to help manage moisture within the roof build-up and support the long-term performance of the new covering. This was then finished with a mineral capsheet, giving the roof a durable outer layer designed to withstand the British weather and provide a smart, professional finish.

The completed roof at The Haven now benefits from improved protection, a refreshed felt surface, and a roofing system better suited to ongoing exposure to the elements.
